On the weekends I always like to try something new and exciting.
And the last weekend was no exception to the rule.
On Friday I travelled to my all-time favourite London location- Camden Town, I love it I actually feel like I fit in and I can wear my most outrageous clothes and frankly nobody gives a damn. My first port of call was the Inspiral Lounge located next to the canal, It's a vegan restaurant with copious amount of choice but that day I settled for a lovely fresh juice! Yum.
Then, continuing my vegan adventure I went to a little stall within the market called 'Cookies and scream' another favourite of mine, ever since I tried their infamous chocolate cookies I was hooked; but this time I tried something new: a peanut butter and Jelly cookie, Now I don't usually like peanut butter but I was determined to give this a go, the texture (warmed up) was amazing and the jelly so sweet but unfortunately for me I'm still not a peanut butter lover…sigh.
Anyway the day went on and I ventured to my usually haunts, picked up some more incense, a chai latte, some fresh orange juice and headed to whole foods in Richmond, another of my favourite places! Picked myself up a delicious self-serve salad and a cherry health shot with acai; so scrummy, then had an amazing walk in Richmond Park, a perfect end to the day.
Saturday I had company in my adventures; we traveled to Shoreditch to further explore all the goodness it had to offer as last time we didn't have enough time! We hunted the many food stalls and we were spoilt for choice so of course I got a selection I had a King Prawn Pho with a side of sushi and my friend had a selection of Chinese hot food, everything was so good.
We stopped off for coffee at The Brick Lane Coffee House which was a lovely little discovery so informal and laid back and it had an array of vegan cakes/food! My kind of watering hole.
The initial plan was to go on a bike ride around Victoria Park so we bodded down there as it is one of the only parks in London we had still yet to explore and boy were we in for a treat..what an amazing park with multiple playgrounds, cafes and an inner road in which to cycle freely without annoying restrictions. Just crazy, it has to be one of my new favourites, unfortunately that day we didn't hire a boris bike but we just had a walk around and played on the playground- you are never too old!
Sunday
We ventured back to Victoria Park for the bike ride we had planned and was it epic indeed!
We started off with a few laps of the park and then decide it was time for some food, we stopped off at a little pub just outside the park it was called 'The Crown' and it had the most beautiful selection of food and because it was Sunday it offered a lovely special of Sundays lunches including beef and pork.
I had the vegan quinoa salad which was so nice, light and fresh, mmm, oh and a cheeky glass of prosecco.
When we went to get another bike out I discovered a treasure in the midst of all the blue hire bikes- a special tour de France edition bike, bright yellow, I had to have it.
We continued around the park until I thought why not go further? so we rode along the canal all the way from Victoria Park to Angel and went to one of my favorite places of all time- Samba Swirl, this is a self serve frozen yoghurt shop and I always help myself to epic amounts, 2/3 flavours of yoghurt and so many toppings- LUSH.
After that it was time to head back, we had a long day and sufficed to say our legs were a bit like jelly, but the sun was shining all day and it was nice to be out in the 'fresh' air- ha.
That was my August weekend and I will be sure to keep you update, I've been doing a lot lately and I will try to catch up as soon as I possibly can!
How was your weekend? Do you like to try new things?
Get out there and explore!
Namste.
